Slow + Flow Creative Movement Group
The intention for these 30 minute sessions is to follow and explore your authentic and creative impulse to move as it arises in the present moment. Another word for that is dancing! But I am intentionally steering away from that word because for some people a whole host of complex emotions, fears, and doubts can accompany it. I hope that this practice expands your inner vocabulary of what creative movement and dance can be, perhaps in a way that might trickle into your daily life. It is a space and practice of playful inquiry into your present experience. How do you want to move? What might happen if you moved in a way you haven't before? How can you move in a way that feels good to you and how does that support you?
While Zoom is not ideal, the gift of our separate-togetherness in a virtual format is: the comfort of a familiar space to go more deeply within in these explorations. And! Perhaps the freedom to take more risks if you are shy and new to creative movement.
This is how it will work: I will send a brief invitation of ideas and topics for each week's movement exploration, prior to that week's class. We will gather on Zoom and I will guide you briefly into connection with your body and that week’s theme, before starting a 30 minute playlist of music that moves from slow and spacious rhythms, to more energetic, and ends back with slow and still. You can choose to leave your camera on or off, though I encourage you to have it on. Folks are welcome to leave at 7:45, or choose to stay for a brief 10-15 minutes of sharing and discussion at the end.
$10 drop-in, $45 for the 6 week series
Intended for all ages 12 and up
Wednesdays 7:30-8:00pm EST (plus 10-15mins for optional discussion at closing)

While you are always free to follow your own movement interests, I will have some topics and themes for us to explore each session:
Week 1, 11/16: Turning inward
Week 2, 11/23: Surrender to Ground + Support
Week 3, 11/30: Getting Curious
Week 4, 12/7: Finding flow
Week 5, 12/14: Exploring balance
Week 6, 12/21: Reaching out
You will need: no experience, some privacy, a small amount of floor space (maybe big enough to lay down in two directions), comfortable clothes, willingness to explore/play. All bodies and any level of mobility is welcome, even sitting or laying down.
The potential benefits of this kind practice are numerous: reconnection with yourself and your authentic rhythms and expression, access to a sense of play and creativity, enlivening of physical parts of yourself that may feel numb or cut-off, arrival into the present moment, relief of chronic pain, connection to pleasure, processing and transmutation of difficult emotions.
I will be drawing on 10 years of personal practice influenced by training as an Expressive Arts Therapist, 5 Rhythms practice, Authentic Movement, and Somatic psychology. I trust that you will listen and attend to your own body's needs and limitations.

Sonic Roots
This is an introductory sound circle for female-bodied folks in which we will playfully explore the connection between our pelvic space and our voice.
I will guide us into some meditative explorations to start, followed by a series of group practices and a short time for reflection at the close. This group is a precursor to a 6 week series that will start Wednesday, September 13. So this would be a great time to come in and see if the experience feels generative for you in a way you want more of!
You need no experience to attend. And if this all sounds a bit edgy to you, please know you are not alone. You will be in a space where you can honor your degree of risk-taking, which can include resting, participating by listening or making very quiet sounds.
Register HERE, unless you prefer to register by emailing me at meganfitzhamilton@gmail.com. The fee is $0-$15.00, sliding scale. Payments can be made at the above link (full fee) or in person with cash, check, card, or venmo (@Megan-Fitz-1).
I will cap the group at 10 people.
Location: My office, 224 East Main St. Yarmouth
Why would you want to do this?
1. Vocal expression creates an opportunity to ease the muscles of the pelvic floor and associated fascia, decompressing nerves and bringing a deeper sense of "grounding," especially when explored consciously and with intention. There is a direct line of fascial connection between the mouth, throat, and jaw, and the pelvic floor and nearby generative organs, not to mention they have amazing anatomical similarities.
2. You will have an opportunity to explore making sounds that you might not otherwise make, in a safe space. Expanding your capacity for play and expression expands your sense of confidence and connection with others.
3. You will have a chance to listen to your body while making sound. What frequencies resonate most harmoniously with you? What sounds feel good? What don't? How do you know? What is it like to hear your voice while also listening to others?
4. Vocal expression can help move congested emotions that might be stored in the form of tension in the pelvic bowl or elsewhere, bringing more ease and flow to your being.
5. The female body and voice has a long history of being silenced and shamed. Perhaps you are aware of inherited conditioning in your own being or would like to explore it.
6. It will be fun! And a lovely opportunity to connect with others.
Please reach out with any questions! And feel free to pass this invitation along to anyone who might be interested.

**These classes are intended as an opportunity to dip our toes into a creative movement practice. My goal is to extend the length of the movement sessions to 1 hour later this winter.
Creative Movement
I have felt a recent longing to get back to my dance and movement practice— which for me, is a practice of allowing spontaneous exploration of free-form movement that responds to my needs and curiosity in the moment. I simultaneously feel the need to bring this exploration into some semblance of connection with others. While Zoom is not ideal, the gift of our separate-togetherness in a virtual format is: the comfort of a familiar space to go more deeply within in these explorations. And! While you are always free to follow your own movement interests, I will have some topics and themes for us to explore each session:
Week 1, 1/5: Feet, ground, weight
Week 2, 1/12: Pelvis/spine, water, flow
Week 3, 1/19: Belly/umbilicus, breath, external space
Week 4, 1/26: Heart/arms, contact, reach, embrace
Week 5, 2/2: Head, sky, play, ease
Week 6, 2/9: Expansion/contraction, moving outward and inward
Intended for all ages 12 and up
Wednesdays 7:15-7:45pm EST (plus 10-15mins for optional discussion at closing)
